1. When going to the south states, remember that lack of winters = crazy insects. One of those being ants! Always check your site beforehand, if possible, and keep jacks and wheels away from their nests. Always spray around these things as well, and anything else that touches the ground/branches at your site.
2. Book campgrounds well in advance if it’s a busy time of the year: aka, Florida for the months of January-April. However, it is not impossible to land great sites at these times but you have to be on top of it. Cancellations happen all the time, and we’ve scored sites at State Parks that are the best of the best, last minute and even for weeks at a time. If you do it this way, you have to be pretty flexible with travel though, so it’s not for everyone!
Other busy times like Thanksgiving you’ll need a lot of luck finding a place. Get ready to spend it at a Flying J or Walmart if you don’t book in advance!!!!
