Whoever said you were too young/old to live that dream..... Curry Hammock,
       Florida Keys ....was wrong!

We’ve been all over the place the last week, physically and emotionally.  Now we can get a little more comfortable with ice cold air.  Good timing as well.  It was 84 degrees outside yesterday.  Woulda cooked.  When we dropped the Escalade off at Mills, it was 86 inside the unit.
Our problem had been not staying in any one spot more than a week.  A very aggressive itinerary…  our goal is to visit as many places we can reach this year in determining where we like the most.  And it’s especially important this go around as we’re scouting out possible locations for the wedding.  But this type of schedule doesn’t correspond with getting service or repairs.  That being said, we did all we could to arrange to have the A/C unit waiting for us upon arrival.
There was one little problem, the unit that was shipped would not fit the Escalade.  The way it’s wired, it could only be replaced by that same specific model.  Doh!  So back to order another one…   then some logistical problems.  That unit could not be found in Florida.  So it had to be shipped from Indiana.  And with the crazy weather conditions throughout the mid states…       all contributing to the unit’s ETA being sometime next week.  Right when we have reservations in the Keys.  It’s not as simple as pushing them back.  Besides cancellation fees, everything is well booked the next 2 months.  Enough already.
It took lots of creative problem solving to get us fixed.  Many thanks to Susan, she was on the phone with KZ.  Mills had an Escalade on the lot for sale with the same model air conditioner.  They ended up switching that A/C onto Mr. Escalade.  We were finally off.  No place to stay…  we hadn’t any campgrounds booked due to the uncertainty with the repair work.  Everything in the Pompano Beach/ Ft. Lauderdale area was full.
I enjoyed the Ft. Lauderdale area.  Easterlin Park is a nice spot.  Lots of wildlife, including the lizards and birds.

                                                                   Hitching a ride?!

Good thing about the area is everything is closeby.  Can drive to the beach.  And there is  a nightlife.  We went out last Saturday night to “Himmarshee Village,” basically a block of bars.  It was a lot of fun.  It reminded me of Dublin with the square and all the pubs are right there.  We’ll be back next year, just have to book in advance.
We headed south and now we’re at Miami Everglades campground…  it’s a big place, and it’s much easier finding sites as you head inland.  Leaving for the Keys tomorrow!

Ahhhh, air!
