Whoever said you were too young/old to live that dream..... Curry Hammock,
       Florida Keys ....was wrong!

It’s bizarre how much I loved the campground we were in….Manatee River State Park. Bryan loved it too, but it’s really stuck on me. It wasn’t beside the ocean, seemed out in the middle of nowhere (for a former city chick anyway!), and it was just so surrounded in nature. The drive from the entrance to the campsite was a FAIR distance….which added to the feeling of being ‘away’ from it all.
Our campsite from the doorway….and Charlie;-)

The campsites were hugeantic and private, there were nature trails, horse trails, pet walk trails, a river you could canoe in, and endless roads that I could zip around on my new scooter….
Bryan with Charlie on his head….and that awesome red toy in the back!

THAT’S RIGHT! I finally did it. I saw this perfect electric scooter in Camping World and said MINE….and then it was done! It’s red and it’s sexy, and it ups my nerdy hotness right through the roof, if I may say so myself;-) Ohhh but sooo nerdy!
Riding into the sunset….or is that out of it?

It goes about 20-30mph, and lasts about the same on one charge. It even has pedals on it incase you run out of juice, but I wouldn’t dare pedal the thing. It looks ridiculous! We travel with it in the back of the truck against the cab….seems to work out quite nicely, but we had to transfer our bikes to a ladder rack on the back of Mr. Escalade.
And speaking of bikes and scooters, I haven’t even updated about Charlie yet! He LOVES to ride on the handle bars of either. Biking and scootering are his favorite things. I have a little leash that attaches to his ‘flight suit’, just in case he has a scare. He chirps so happily when we take him out, and he comes with us pretty much every time. He’s such a joy to have around!
We forgot to mention last time about our trips to the Thomas Edison Estate and Ft. Myers Beach. I don’t think Bryan wants to only remember his least favorite campground ever, so I’ll update on the places we went now. (It wasn’t a BAD campground, just nothing to do, and there were better ones in better areas. This one seemed to cater to mostly permanent models for retirees that came for the season. The folks there were really nice to us, and there was a really pretty fishing river going around the campground)
The funky trees at the Thomas Edison Estate...

Besides visiting the AWESOME ‘Shell Factory’ we also made a trip into Ft. Myers Beach where we stumbled on a couple of campground much closer to this awesome place! It’s on our list for next year since we kinda missed out on it this time. Caught the sunset there....

In any case, we’re in Malabar back over on the east coast, below Cocoa Beach. I’m sitting here typing this on the beach, Bryan just came back from body surfing. His board broke right in half! That’s how forceful the waves are here….and it’s super windy. Charlie is sitting on the chair I brought right beside my head. He’s fascinated with the ocean, and all the people on the beach. Not sure what he thinks about the wind though, haha.
We’re taking it easy, Florida just has that effect:-) Manatee River State Park, and more....
