Betcha all saw THAT one coming:P
We’ve been talking about marriage for a while (ok, so after the first couple of weeks that we met….we knew this was it the day we met!)

The Diamond aka, the RETINA BURNER

Of course, I’m a huge perfectionist and I research everything I do extensively, so he allowed me to pick out what I wanted. Thus, started my diamond obsession:-) I even want to get into the business now:-P
I managed to find THE perfect diamond. It should have taken me ages to find, but I lucked out on this rare beauty. We got it from Good Old Gold in NY.(click here for their site!) Thank you Tim for finding it for us, Charlie for showing it to us, and Jonathan for all your help and friendship along the way! We recommend them HIGHLY to anyone seeking out a well cut perfect diamond. They know their stuff….!
For anyone who knows diamonds out there, here’s the dealio. I will try not to get too technical:P I’m just so horribly proud of this stone….so glad we found it!
It’s a .55ct, color D (highest), clarity IF (no inclusions), awesome pavillion and crown angles, Ideal and Excellent Symmetry and Polish. It also has a strong blue fluorescence, so it glows in UV light! (Which really gets my nerd on!). A blue flouro with a D color makes it a ‘blue white’ stone, which was very sought after many years ago. In rare cases this can cause a milky effect, but not in this one. It’s crystal clear! It’s certed by AGS (it’s an AGS 000) and is also an isee2 diamond. (click here for the isee2 site)
Here is the rock under a hearts and arrows viewer. This pattern is caused by perfect symmetry. The arrows are face up, and the hearts are face down….

In other words it’s rare rare rare rare and beautiful as all heck! I love it, and now Bryan is just as impressed:-) (He had to listen to me talk about it for waaaay too long, but really appreciated it when he saw the little sparkler).

We took it a super well known and excellent appraiser known as RockDoc (click here for his site) in Boca Raton where we spent HOURS looking at it under machinery of all sorts, as well as other ‘pet rocks’. My second recommendation of this post! We then went out for all you can eat sushi and talked about diamonds even more, which was pretty much two components of heaven for me. Bryan tolerated it really well, and even enjoyed it. Imagine that!

The Ring - MY PREEEECIOUS!

From there we went to Melbourne, and met up with Jan at Diamond Brokers of Florida (click here for their site). Our third recommendation is for these guys! Bryan and I knew we wanted a tension setting after I tried one on up in PEI. We originally didn’t like them until I tried it, and from there, the search went on for the setting. When we walked into DBOF and were shown the Gelin & Abaci tension setting, one sparkled like mad and drew me to it. We knew it was the one:-) So it was ordered in platinum, which looks really nice with an icy white stone! Bryan even got it engraved on the inside….I had no idea what it said until I got it:-)
The ring arrived super fast, about 2 weeks or so, which was awesome. Bryan would tease me and sparkle it from across the room, not letting me see it. TEASE! I thought I’d have to wait a long time….but I was wrong:-)

I should also add that it’s going to be in DBOFs next ad in Space Coast Living magazine in February….my exact ring! How COOL is that?! So perhaps that’s a small part of the reason I didn’t have to wait too long….because in Febuary I’d see it! And if I didn’t have it by then, I was going to cut the picture out and attach it to my finger:P
*LOL*

The Proposal aka, the thing that actually out-shined and out-sparkled the ring….
A few of days ago while surfing, he found a perfectly intact large clam shell….empty of course;-)

On the night of January 3rd we were walking out on the beach with everything glowing in the full moon….it was like being on a different planet. He distracted me for a second and put the shell on the sand, knowing I’d pick it up. (I love shells and collect them). When I saw it, I thought something was either alive or dead in it, haha! Lucky I didn’t throw it in the ocean:P
When I opened it though, it almost WAS alive….with sparkles! When I realized what was going on, I think I went into shock! Next thing I knew, he was on one knee asking me to marry him!
Everything was pretty blurry but I remember hugging him crying and then asking him if I had said yes yet….apparently I didn’t, so I corrected myself! LOL! I guess he was kinda out of it too, because he almost put the darned thing on my right hand! (Other hand dummy!) Hehe!
It was by far the sweetest thing ever….everyone is telling him what a great idea it was….and I have to say it suited me perfectly. He is the best! <3

The Wedding aka, the stress begins!
So there we have it….we can now call each other by fiance instead of boyfriend/girlfriend. Haha!
We were first planning on eloping, but then switched it to a small wedding on the beach in April. Things got all twisted around, and there were problems with people coming down in such short notice, so we have now switched the date to April 5th, 2008 (the day we met)….but that’s ok, it works out better! Oh, and it’s a new moon then which is good for beginnings:-)
We’ve got all the details worked out, and even have the dress ordered as well as the bridesmaids dresses. I just love the dress….it’s kinda unique! Going to do some modifications to it to make it a bit more ‘flashy’. Where it ruffles up, I’m going to have some material flowers added with some beaded strings coming down a couple of inches. Might also get some beadwork done on the train:-)
Please excuse the lack of head. I wasn’t feeling photogenic that day, and told Bryan to not even ATTEMPT to get my face in there:P

Bryan and I picked everything out together, from the cake to the flowers to the dress. We’re not all that traditional and don’t believe in superstitions, just to get that out of the way. It’s just the way we are….we do everything together, and can’t imagine it another way….
Now we just have to find the perfect location….we might even do this on a cruise and get married on one of the stop offs on an island somewhere. We’ll see:-)
So that’s it folks! The new year (and the ones following it) holds a lot for us, as well as lots of traveling and experiencing new things….
:-)
