Whoever said you were too young/old to live that dream..... Curry Hammock,
       Florida Keys ....was wrong!

Welcome to the Gulf, we made it across Alligator Alley in one piece, landing in Naples. On the drive across, Cat snapped a few pics of alligators hanging out along the side of the road.  Wouldn’t want to have a flat tire.

Cat wanted to stay in the Keys longer, but it’s nice to see more of Florida.  All places have their merits and some nuisances.  In Miami, well the traffic there is terrible.  Not that it’s entirely the city’s fault since you can’t have a subway.  Cat made the mistake in thinking that people could run into basements during tornados or hurricanes.  There aren’t any basements down here…  you’d be under water.
So if you can’t have a subway, maybe a few more commuter trains.  Take some pointers from Europe and its much more efficient transportation.  But with the population density there, you wouldn’t want to drive a car in the first place.  So, we have all this open space to choke with exhausted carbon dioxide.  I shouldn’t be talking when we’re getting 10 miles per gallon pulling a trailer around the continent.  Hurry the day when bio-diesel is readily available.  It’s available in a few spot locations, you might find it on a farm, largely of the “homemade” variety.  Before we set off on our travels, we were talking to a couple who were considering it.  It is more efficient, they claimed you get better mileage.  Sounds great, but it’s hard enough to find a diesel station in some of the more remote areas.  What the heck would we do when we ran out of bio-diesel or ethanol, or some other obscure fuel source.  And where did the electric cars go?  Enough, I’ll save you from that rant.  It was funny, on the last episode of Boston Legal, the guy William Shatner plays, his company was turning human fat into fuel.  Take it from Captain Kirk.
This all ties into our travels, we want to see the beauties of nature, such as the coral reefs.  That’s what I want to see, as does Cat, when she’s not overcome by new possibilities for shopping:P
These pics are from our glass bottomed boat tour.

Cat enjoying the boat and the turquoise water she loves so much.

A picture taken through the glass bottom of the boat....

The brain coral is the most impressive, didn’t catch a pic of that, it was massive.  The top of the brain was bashed in, a great crater, from a boat anchor back in 1984.
According to the “experts” whoever those may be, from Al Gore to your local biologists and fisherman, there have been some scary environmental changes.  The water in Florida has risen to over 90 degrees Fahrenheit come the height of summer.  What do these record high temperatures translate…  it means that the coral is going to boil, cook like a lobster.  It is expected the entire coral reef will be dead within 20 to 30 years.  If this is true, then it’s very sad.  Only time will tell.  Even if humans make drastic changes right now, it may already be too late for much of it.  Watch out, nature often has a way of correcting itself.  And I’m not sure if all this crazy weather has anything to do with it.
Yeah, yesterday was Valentine’s Day.  It’s a much better day when you’re with the right person;)   Went out for Cat’s favourite, seafood of course.  It was a strange experience, the name of the place was Joe’s Crab Shack.  It caught our eye from the road, the place was full.  A few minutes to get a table, no problem, a great menu, then we order.  They’ve got coconut shrimp, our absolute favourite appetizer.  So then the lights are dimmed and strobe lights come on.  Then the wait staff breaks out with the Macarena being played.  We were way out there in space, not quite what I was expecting.  A waitress came straight over to get me out to the middle of the floor to do the dance…  no thanks.  Maybe if I’d had my food, and drinks especially, first.  And the big neon sign on the side wall read: “My manager gave me crabs… to give to you.”  The food was excellent, one of those fun places.  Not what I would have planned had I been a regular to the area but why not.  That’s all folks.
