Whoever said you were too young/old to live that dream..... Curry Hammock,
       Florida Keys ....was wrong!

Alright, Cat had her time in the limelight, now I’m bumping her post:P  Thanks for all the comments and well wishes!

We made it down to Mills RV for them to diagnose and place the order for the necessary parts for the Escalade.   The A/C they had received would not fit our rig so it’s just a couple more days.
It’s pretty funny, our rear jacks wouldn’t retract when we were departing the last park, but good timing I guess.  Cranked them up by hand.  Now when Mills took a look at the jacks, the shaft from the motor was broken.  Not only that, we were informed the right rear jack was bent at a right angle.  Now I feel stupid, I was wondering about that.  Take a look at the picture.

Ok, when we picked up the Escalade originally, that right jack looked like that, I just assumed that was how it was designed.  Never thought otherwise until we saw Jim & Susan’s Escalade.  Ha, I knew when we were doing the walkthrough at Leisure Days, back in July, that we were going to have problems with the rear jacks.  At that point the jack on the right would not go down at all.  So after some handy work the mechanic got them to go up and down.  Not that they ever provided much stability.
Lack of knowledge hurt us in this case, we needed to see a second Escalade to compare, but there was only this one.  But it was like that with a couple other items as well.  The second battery we paid for was not installed, and we were fortunate to have Jim and Susan bring it down for us.  We didn’t get a remote for our awning, or a long vacuum extension for the nozzle.  Didn’t know they were included either.  That’s funny too, since we’ve been vacuuming the floor on our knees.  Hasn’t bothered us, just one of those little things.  There was no checklist of items included “in the box” or such, at some things you’re left to the mercy of the dealer.  However it’s always the consumer’s responsibility to be vigilant.  It’s not always a smooth ride, but we’ve had a good ride so far.
In other non-mechanical, more interest worthy news, we spent the past week right on Lake Okeechobee.  It was in a small town called Pahokee, very poor, but the view from the lake was very calming.  When we looked out our back window, all we could see was water.

Cat was jealous I was the one who snapped the pic above:-P

We even saw an alligator from our site.  They have a rock barrier so they won’t come up on the land.  Who wants to trip over a gator first thing out your door.

The problem being right on the water…   the wind.  For two days the trailer was shaking from the high winds sweeping off the lake.  To get away from that, we took a drive to West Palm Beach for the day.  Thought we’d get some surfing in, but the conditions were not ideal.  There was a purple flag up, which means dangerous marine life, aka Portuguese man o’ war.  I was going to go out regardless, just had to get over a rock ledge at knee depth.   Well first I caught my shin on the rock, then a stray stinger wrapped itself around my ankle.  That was enough for me.  Had to resort to getting some sun, while Cat was out shelling:-)

For now we’ll be in the Ft. Lauderdale area till we get all our work done and then it’s off to the Keys on the 22nd.                 Get ‘er done!
