Whoever said you were too young/old to live that dream..... Curry Hammock,
       Florida Keys ....was wrong!

Well, we’ve left Vero beach and stopped over in Malabar for a bit. We found a gorgeous campground right beside the Indian River and we’ll be staying here until we head back to Cocoa Beach. I wish we could stay longer, but perhaps we’ll do this before my parents and us head down south along the coast….
The ‘rents are heading down this Friday, and should be in Florida next Wed. I’m sure Mittens will be pleased….my mother feeds him too many treats….
I finally decorated for Christmas too. It’s really difficult getting into the spirit when it’s so nice out:D I never thought I’d need the cold and the snow! Ok, well, that’s just going too far!
As for the update on the ants, there have been less smaller ones by the fridge….and still only the 1 per night Carpenter Ant situation. No sighs of relief yet though. The smell has gotten even worse, especially after the rain. I couldn’t believe that Bryan couldn’t smell it, so I led him around getting him to smell things, and then had him stick his nose up to the base of the bed slide. Sure enough, he said there was a ’slight smell, almost like fish’.
I don’t know how it could be slight, as I can catch it in the other room. This lead me on a quest online for a description of it. I finally dug up something interesting. Ants (Carpenter Ants) release Formic Acid from their mouths when disturbed and/or threatened. This can be used when biting or just as a warning scent for other ants. I also found out that woman are more likely to smell this than men are! Ah-ha! That explains it all then. When I go up to the area and smell, I start gagging, and feel very sick afterwards….while Bryan isn’t affected at all. I can also smell it out in the living room….and I’m not sure whether it’s coming from in the bedroom or not….
So, if any RVers have Carpenter Ant problems….let your wife sniff them out:P
I’m sitting here writing this with one of those scented pillows you can heat or freeze up to my nose. After the rain, the smell worsened, and it’s rather unbearable. We’re hoping to find a place that cleans RVs out….someone who can get in the areas we can’t get to. That way, we may also find this nest of theirs! I fear the carpet at the head of the bed slide might have to be taken up….I have no idea how anyone can do this, given the tight space behind the slide.

Gross eh? Imagine laying down in bed and wondering if ants are gonna come up around from under the bed and on YOU! The main reason I am freaking out every post here....mega creep factor!

Moving on....well....trying!
