Whoever said you were too young/old to live that dream..... Curry Hammock,
       Florida Keys ....was wrong!

Ok, we received another lesson on RVs yesterday, somehow we missed RV 101 in the original showing.  But I recall we were not shown this aspect of the water heater’s functionality.  Yesterday morning, our neighbour asked if we were out of propane as the hot water heater was attempting to ignite but no go.  No, it shouldn’t be, was using the hot water a couple minutes ago but I’ll check it.  Cat then asks, did you use up all the hot water?  Yep, both 40 pounders empty.  Our neighbour, John, informs us we should be able to run the water heater on electric.  Wait a minute, we feel dumb now, no it doesn’t automatically switch over to a/c or anything along that lines.  Oh, that’s what that switch was for in the closet.  But it didn’t work any time we switched it on before.  Open the grate for the water heater and this is where we discover a “master” switch on the unit itself.  It had a pin to secure it in the Off position, remove the pin, switch it on and we’re in business.  Ok, we are definitely inexperienced in this lifestyle but we were not shown this at anytime by the dealer, and second, the manual is useless.  At no point it mentioned the pin and this manual covered 6 different models offered by the manufacturer condensed into one generic set of instructions to save money.  But we learned that the switch is securely set to Off so we won’t burn out the element if we happen to leave in On while not having water supplied.  It sure makes it more memorable when you learn it from the experience.    The tanks have run dry!
