Whoever said you were too young/old to live that dream..... Curry Hammock,
       Florida Keys ....was wrong!

Ok a long post spilt into two....the next version will be more picture saturated:-D But that doesn’t mean to skip this one:-P
Anyhoo….
To add to Bryans post, we left PEI and it’s cold rainy damp weather behind. Of course, as life would have it, as soon as we left a heat wave decided to make it’s presence in my absence! Wonderful! Bad enough that I was super sick from all the cold and damp weather. Bryan was too, and I guess just about everyone else! I never get sick, except for when I’m in the cold….it’s just not my environment. First it was a cold, then the flu, then another cold, then an ear/sinus infection….etc etc….blah boo hiss!
As soon as we made it to the warm humid air of the Ocean, it all pretty much cleared up. Rock and roll breathing right is GREAT!
The trip down has been quite the experience, lessons learned….and new places were experienced! NYC is absolutely wonderful….Toronto can’t even hold a flame to it! I think I BELONG there! Oh wait, no, that’s Florida:P
We stayed in beautiful Long Island at Battle Row Campground….and met some wonderful people out and about. There is always this stereotype of NY people being cold and snooty, but I’ll leave that for the crappy Toronto folk:P NY people are the most FRIENDLY, HELPFUL, and TALKATIVE people I have ever met. You New Yorkers have something really special going for you, and a gorgeous city to boot. 911 can’t touch y’all!
(Yes, I’m starting the y’all thing….shut up, I’m in South Carolina already….I’m allowed:-D)
Anyway, on our way out of NY I saw a different side of things thanks to my poor navigation (it was the maps fault, I swear!) and Bryans inability to make a driving decision on the spot. We kinda went ‘off track’ and ended up in an area where every window had bars….
ME: “Ummmm, Bryan, did you notice the windows? They all have bars on them! I don’t think this is a good area!”
Bryan: “Oh come on, it’s not that bad”
Me: “Are you nuts? This looks terrible.
*pause*
Oh my god, it’s like, every window….ALL down every street!
*pause*
*gasp*
Ummmm….there are GANSTAS staring at us!!!!”
A few minutes go by, the area gets worse and worse….
Me: “Ok, seriously, this is not good, where ARE we!?!? This looks, like, worse than downtown detroit….!!!!”
Bryan: “Oh $#%@, is this Coney Island?”
It sure was! We went right through Coney Island and Brooklyn (I think)! I kid you not. Everyone was staring at the Escalade going by, and the blonde in the front seat with rockstar sunglasses and a furry himilayan cat starting out the window….looking rather petrified at that!
….soooo not cool. Or was it?:D
Well, that was exciting, and in spite of the fear struck in us, it was a pretty cool experience. We’ll just put that on our list of “Things not to do again while RVing”!
:P
So off we went….and that’s where Bryans post below takes over. I must add, I am totally at HOME now. Palm trees and the beach. Ahhhh!
But before I go into that, I want to let y’all (hee hee!) know that I drove the Escalade for the first time in NC! It was fabulous….intimidating at the start, but after the first couple of minutes I was completely at ease! Not to mention my hotness factor went up by like, a zillion! All I needed was my fuzzy pink cowgirl hat! Hooya!
I must also mention that for the first time in our lives we both saw ‘inmates’ doing the highway clean up thang! I rolled down my window and waved at them, blowing kisses. They all just kinda stared. Not a good idea, in hindsight:D
So, we arrive at Pirateland Campground….amazing place! Bryan was so looking forward to coming here, and also of being in SC for some reason. He loves the whole aura the southern states have so far….and I keep telling him: WAIT UNTIL FLORIDA!!!!
But how about them Florida storms!
