Whoever said you were too young/old to live that dream..... Curry Hammock,
       Florida Keys ....was wrong!

So I’ve received one rather nasty comment in response to my last post. I thought I would share it….just *in case* there were others that feel the same way;-)
“Ok - after talking with many fellow RVers we all decided that the comment I’m about to make must be said. No intentions to hurt anyones feelings, but he truth hurts sometimes. Since day one that you guys set out to RV Fulltime you have done nothing but bitch and complain. Even when you post on RV.net you babble on and on and then almost demanded responses from other Rvers about YOUR problems. See RVers are normally the nicest people you will ever meet…but you must earn respect first. No one wants to associate with or help two whinny kids trying to play house. By the sounds of it you two really didnt do your homework before just jumping into this lifestyle. See there are pros and cons to RVing just like any other lifestyle. Your constant complaints of the “nature” and “wildlife” is silly. You (basically) live OUTDOORS! That is THEIR home…of course if you have food and candy laying around its going to attract rodents. So your question above of “Is it a sign that RVing wasn’t right for us”?..the answer is YES - thats a huge sign slapping ya right in the face. So your idea of moving back into your Condo might be the best idea you’ve come up with so far. Again - no intentions of being cruel or harsh but it needed to be said and the other RVers didnt have the guts to tell you so boldly. So anyhow take that as you will. Hope you actually take time to enjoy Florida.
Rick”
I just have to respond to it….and get all of this out in the open, in case there are other ‘misunderstandings’. Here goes….
Ok - after talking with many fellow RVers we all decided that the comment I’m about to make must be said. No intentions to hurt anyones feelings, but he truth hurts sometimes. Since day one that you guys set out to RV Fulltime you have done nothing but bitch and complain.
For many people reading this, you may or may not realize this by now, but I am a dramatic person….someone who bounces from one extreme to another. This is the way I have always been, and will likely always be. People who can handle it are a plenty, as a lot of the time, it’s viewed as a positive thing. (I guess I make life exciting? Heh) Some people, well, can’t handle it. And that’s fine too! What my personality does is allow me to write from different perspectives. This is what a lot of people want to read….the good and bad of a situation.
When I write this blog, I don’t hold anything back. I promised myself this was the way it would be from the beginning. I started off this blog to show everyone (especially those who were younger or people who had never thought about this lifestyle) what RVing was like. I’m not going to write that it’s all sunshine and rainbows, because the truth is, no lifestyle is like that.
Upon reading this comment, I actually did wonder for a second, if what he said was true. Are all my posts THAT negative? Does it really sound like I’m having a bummer of a time doing this?
The answer is NO! I’ve gone through every post ever made. As I read further back, I noticed that all the posts about ‘negative things’ were made into a joke, because even though I am an extreme and excitable person, I know I always laugh at the bad things, whether it’s during or after the fact.
So the comment about ’since day one’ is a lot of hogwash. We came into this excited as all heck and OVERLY positive actually;-) You can’t waltz into a blog and read the first entry, and then go on to say you know what’s going on. I guess it doesn’t really work that way!
I’d also like to hear from whoever ‘we all is’, too;-) Honestly!
Even when you post on RV.net you babble on and on and then almost demanded responses from other Rvers about YOUR problems.
I don’t know how I can even comment on that one. I don’t demand anything. In fact, I’m polite and thankful, and nothing more than that. A lot of people on RV.net go there to ask for help, so why am I being attacked for this? I guess if people really feel that way, I won’t be posting on RV.net any longer. Obviously there is a misunderstanding….so I won’t further encourage it! It’s really too bad because RV.net is a learning base, where people share their problems, good and bad experiences, so that others can learn from them. This is what I did for ages before I set out on this adventure.
“See RVers are normally the nicest people you will ever meet…but you must earn respect first. No one wants to associate with or help two whinny kids trying to play house. “
This is by far the most ridiculous immature comment I have ever witnessed, so I’ll just leave it at that….heh! Besides the fact about RVers being nice….which is VERY true!
(Well, almost!
By the sounds of it you two really didnt do your homework before just jumping into this lifestyle. See there are pros and cons to RVing just like any other lifestyle.
I do agree we started out pretty soon after we decided but I can assure you, we did our homework. We’re young so I guess we can afford to take chances ad bounce back if need be. Do I really need someone to tell me there are pros and cons to each lifestyle? Come on, I’m not 10 years old. It’s the whole reason we moved out of the condo to begin with….!
Your constant complaints of the “nature” and “wildlife” is silly. You (basically) live OUTDOORS! That is THEIR home…of course if you have food and candy laying around its going to attract rodents.
This may be true….but I think there is a difference between ants coming in, and two different colonies making a nest in the same area and then taking over. It IS upsetting I’m sorry to say, and many other people have agreed with me on this. I don’t complain about nature and wildlife, because I like the two of these things. I simply am showing everyone that there IS a bad side to this, while asking for advice! That is what this blog is about….expression and letting others know what to expect! I only went on RV.net to ask if this happened a lot, and to show others what has happened here. I don’t think this is a crime, and no, they are not CONSTANT complaints….I think you exaggerate a bit there;-)
So your question above of “Is it a sign that RVing wasn’t right for us”?..the answer is YES - thats a huge sign slapping ya right in the face. So your idea of moving back into your Condo might be the best idea you’ve come up with so far.
It shows you that you haven’t read much about us….why we moved in the first place….so really you are not the so much the expert as you try to convey. I don’t think anyone is really. And like Trent, another commenter asked: “Is he telling us that you have to be an expert on things before you try them”. Seriously look into your life and ask yourself that question….did you go into everything being an expert?
Sorry sir, but that’s what life is about, to US at least….learning on the way and documenting it while we go. That is the purpose of this site!
Again - no intentions of being cruel or harsh but it needed to be said and the other RVers didnt have the guts to tell you so boldly. So anyhow take that as you will. Hope you actually take time to enjoy Florida.
Maybe you are the tough love type of person, and I respect that, like I can respect all opinions. I am sorry to say though, your comment IS an attack, and I can read between the lines. From your accusations to your calling us ‘whiny kids trying to play house’, it is quite obvious what is going on….
I’ll let my readers figure that one out on their own;-)
I would like to say thank you to those who have commented and emailed me so far for your support in the light of such a silly comment. It’s good to know that we have so many readers….I really had no idea! Thank you so much:-) It’s given me motivation to finish up the sections of this site and get things going….
In other news, the Terro Baits have worked we think. No more ant highways. Now it’s just the pain of cleaning their dead bodies up under there. YUCK!
On to the next adventure, and as Rick said….we hope to actually take the time to enjoy Florida now:-) Bad apples....
