Whoever said you were too young/old to live that dream..... Curry Hammock,
       Florida Keys ....was wrong!

Monday at Wasaga was great….I worked on my tan while Bryan worked on his burn….ouch. Wait until Florida….the poor thing! I’m so sore from all the activity (biking, walking). I’m not used to it….and at this rate with my fast metabolism I’ll be back in shape within a month! Booya! No more fat Cat:-D
Monday night brought in some more thunder and lightning….and we were almost all alone in the Wilderness camping section of the campground. FREAKY! Everyone had left as the holiday was over. I did notice something peculiar. The fireflies (which were all around us every night) were glowing orange before the rain and then returned to their original blue/green color after the rain let up. I keep forgetting to look this up, but will after this post is done.
At about 3 or 4am, I awoke to Bryan pounding furiously on the door of the tent, and then some strange noises and growling. When he clicked the truck lights on (it’s pitch black out in the middle of nowhere!), I saw about 6 baby raccoons running around the picnic table. Of course, I start squealing cause they were sooooo adorable, and I basically scare the bejesus out of not just the raccoons, but Bryan too . Mum runs into the forest after them, from up in a tree….she was probably on the lookout while they fed on our garbage. I guess we know who tried to take our cooler the day before! A few minutes later we hear their growls again. On go the truck lights and they flee into the woods once again. I was kinda annoyed that I had left my camera in the car. DOH!
Tuesday morning was spent driving back to Toronto and visiting Theodore Mittens. I missed him so much! Also had a much needed shower and did a tonne of wash. After that we headed out to our next campground and moved into our temporary RV. It’s a cute little 27 foot Terry Dakota travel trailer. Surprisingly, has a lot of room in it. I know it will be fun to upgrade to the 37 foot….whenever it decides to arrive! Come on Mr. Escalade!
So we got to the campground a bit late due to traffic….and when we arrived we found that the people from the dealer had left. This only meant that we had to figure stuff out for ourselves! An example of this was our first problem - the TOILET. Ok, it was a REAL head scratcher for about 20 minutes! I spent a few minutes trying to flush the darn thing! I kept tugging at the knob, which only put more and more fresh water in the bowl! Bryan then had his try at it. It took us (well, BRYAN) a WHILE to figure out that in order to get it to FLUSH down, you had to pull the knob all the way back. GAH! I had to clean up the water all over the floor from it’s splashing….as it near overflowed….
Damn newbies! For a few seconds there I had actually thought about going around and asking for advice….how funny would that have been?! Yeah, dumb blonde!
It really is amazing how sweet the folks are in the campgrounds. Everyone in the ‘lifestyle’ is so kind. We were standing around trying to figure out how to put the awning down, and within two minutes, people walked over and showed us how….as well as give us tips. FANTASTIC. I’m loving this already….a nice change from the coldness of the city….
I’m sitting here typing this in my comfy chair under the awning. The sounds around me are children playing in the distance, many birds, and the faint ringing of wind chimes. Got a beer, the laptop, wifi, a barbecue and a home on wheels with the road before us….this most certainly is the life. What a fantastic decision….!
Some pictures of our temporary unit….and my set up under the awning! (Yes, I’m a geek and I bought stepping stones, and a solar powered ‘light globe’ that will turn on and change colors tonight! *excited*)
It’s a bit messy….we were just moving in and had to hang our clothes up to dry!
                                                               The 27 Terry Dakota
